Events

Junior Outdoor Trap Season: the Junior Trap program is currently active from June 6th through the end of July. The costs for this program are $4 for juniors and $6 for adults which includes targets, shells, gun rental and eye / ear protection. In the meantime, juniors and adults are welcome to attend the regularly scheduled Sunday afternoon trap shoot from 1 until 4 p.m.

Trap Shoots: Trap shoots are held Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. and Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m. Junior members, adult members, guests and the public are invited to participate. Bring your favorite shotgun, 7.5 or 8 shot ammo, eye / ear protection and have fun. Cost per 25 bird line is $2.50.

Basic Junior Rifle Program: The Basic Junior Rifle course / program is currently in progress but on a well deserved break. This program consists of a 4 week introductory course stressing safety and practical rifle marksmanship, after which juniors and members may continue to shoot each Wednesday night. The cost is $20 and students must be at least 12 years of age. After students complete the course there is an option to continue shooting November through April of 2008 for an additional $20 per student. Civilian Marksmanship Program: The CMP shoot season is currently active every 3rd Sunday. Participate this Spring by dusting off your M1 or other military grade rifle. There is a $15 fee for members and a $20 fee for non-members. Please contact John Kohle at 724-941-2644 for more information.

Recreational Pistol League: The 2007-2008 season is currently over. Please check back soon for more details on the 2008 - 2009 season. Typically, the season runs for (2) 10 week sessions and starts at 7:30 p.m. sharp. Presently the course consists of: 10 rds slow fire, 10 rds timed fire, 10 rds rapid fire, 10 rds 2-handed silhouette and 10 rds 1-handed silhouette. The league is restricted to red dot and open sights only - eye and ear protection mandatory. Single shot pistols, semi auto pistols and revolvers are welcome - multiple pistols are allowed for this course. Season participation costs $30 for members and $40 for non-members which includes targets and a pizza party. During the holiday break and after the season Joe Montouro  Jr. holds steel silhouette shoots. Participation consists of shooting 10 rounds at each of the steel targets: chicken, ground hog and ram. The cost is $2 per line and the highest score shoots for free. Please contact Steve Boehm at 412-571-2376 for further information.

Training

PA Hunters Safety Course: In keeping with Carrick’s tradition of safety and education, the club will again host a Hunters Safety course scehduled for September 2008. Reservations are now required! Class size is limited to the first 60 participants. Adults and juniors are welcome. If you plan on hunting out of state your are required to display your orange Hunters Safety Card.
