Board of Directors Election in January!
Five positions on the Board of Directors are up
for election at the January meeting. The Board is
made up of 15 Directors who serve a three-year term
with one-third of the Board elected every January.
The five Directors who are up for election have
agreed to run for another 3-year term and will be on
the ballot. To vote in the election, an individual must
have been a member of the club for at least 60 days. Nominations for the position of Director will be
taken from the floor; however, the nominee must be
present and must agree, if elected, to accept the position.
The only criteria for holding office is that the
individual must have been a member of the club for at
least 1 year.
The five Directors who are up for re-election are:
Steve Boehm. Paul Joos, Frank Mihalovich, Steve
Perry, and James Warden. |

Recreational Pistol League
The Monday Night Recreational Pistol League
will be starting the second half of their season on
January 9. They shoot on Monday evenings at 7:30
pm on the indoor range.
The cost for the 10-week second half of the season
is $20 for members and $30 for non-members. If
you can’t commit to the remainder of the season, you
can pay as you go, $3 per night for members and $4
per night for non-members. All you need to try it is
your favorite firearm, 50 rounds of ammunition - .22
or center fire with a velocity under 1200 fps, and eye
and ear protection.
The course of fire does have timed and rapid fire
segments so a semi-automatic pistol is recommended;
however, those with revolvers and speed loaders will
have time to complete the lines.
If you’d like to give the Monday night league
a try come up to the Club - it is a fun evening of
recreational target shooting. For more information on
the League, please contact Steve Boehm at Stephen.
Boehm@verizon.net.
Hanna Gets a 12-Pointer as
her First Buck
Thirteen year old Hannah Wareham expressed an
interest in going hunting with her Dad, so he enrolled
her in a Hunter Safety Class and joined the Club so
she could have a safe place to practice shooting and to
hone her marksmanship skills.
On the first day of buck season in November, she
managed to bag a 12-point buck with a very clean
shot. And a month earlier she bagged a doe in the October
Youth Hunt. Both deer were taken in Jefferson
County with her 30-30 rifle.
Hannah is a Jr. member of the club and this was
her first deer season.
Work Parties
Work Parties are held on the 3rd Saturday of each
month to do maintenance and make improvements
around the Club. These work parties (Club volunteers)
are a critical part of Club operation. Without
proper maintenance and efforts to improve the Club,
members would find it more and more difficult to use
the Club’s facilities. The Directors ask everyone who
can to donate some time to these work parties. Lunch
is provided.
November - The following members attended
the November Work Party on November 19: Steve
Boehm, Jim Byerly, John Humerich, Linda Karman,
Rett Mader, Joe Montuoro, Denny Nill, and Ray Noakes.
They cleaned the trap house, patched the Celotex
in the pistol range, worked on the overhead light in
the men’s bathroom (the light fixture needs replaced),
finished the trim on the pistol range walls.
A special thanks to Jim Byerly and Rett Mader for
the great work cutting down the trees that had become
a problem.
December - There was no work party scheduled
for the month of December.
Open Trap Shooting
Trap shooting has ended for the season. It will
start up again in the spring. Sunday afternoon and
Wednesday evening trap shooting will resume in
March (weather permitting). Details in the March/
April newsletter
For questions on trap shooting, please call Joe
Montuoro at 412-833-0897.

As of mid December, the Club has 278 senior
members, 23 associated members and 22 junior members.
The Club welcomed 2 new members in November
and 4 new members in December.
November - Mark Comer Sr. and Ian Ebbitt.
December - Scott Horne, Robert Kosko,
Evgeriy Shchelchkov, and Raymond Woshner
MPRL
The Club’s Metropolitan Police Revolver League
indoor season begins the week of January 8 with our
club shooting on Thursday, January 12. It lasts through
April 12, 2012. They meet Thursday evenings at 6:00
pm. There is a $10/gun fee for each season (Indoor/
Outdoor) and 50 cents a match during the 14 weeks of
competition. You can shoot either rim fire, center fire,
or both. The top 4 scores for each caliber are used for
scoring. Don’t be shy - give it a try!
They are looking for new shooters, so for anyone
that would like to participate in Bullseye (also called
Conventional Pistol) shooting, now is the time to start.
They shoot a Rim Fire match (.22) and a Center
Fire match in a National Match format: 10 shots Slow
Fire (10 shots in 10 minutes); 10 shots Timed Fire (2
five-shot strings, each fired in 20 seconds); 10 shots
Rapid Fire (2 five-shot strings, each fired in 10 seconds).
Matches are shot at the Club’s range and the
scores are then mailed into an official scorer.
A semi-auto or revolver can be used, and red dot
sights are allowed. If you have a spotting scope or
pistol box, that’s a plus.
The course of fire is similar to the Monday Night
Recreational League format, except that all shooting is
one-handed and misfires are handled differently.
If you are interested in participating in the MPRL,
contact Denny Nill at 412-531-5890 or Bill Kramer at
412-835-5453.

aol.com.
Jr. Rifle Program

introductory course and is now shooting on

Member Alerts
Members can be alerted promptly via e-mail to problems
at the club, other circumstances that might affect
the availability of the ranges (such as boy scout outings
or special events that shut down the ranges), and items
of general interest (Rangemaster Classes). The officers
can send you information on these items as soon as they
know about them and possibly save members a wasted
trip to the range or perhaps give you the solution to a
gate malfunction. Please send your e-mail address to
Stephen.Boehm@verizon.net.
Special Thanks
A special Thank You goes out to Al Munsick for
donating a large TV to the trap club house. It's beautiful!!
